OUR PROGRAM

Insurance Approval

Most insurance companies will cover weight loss surgery under the condition that you meet criteria as discussed earlier, but the process of acquiring insurance approval must be handled diligently.

Once you have had your initial consultation with Dr. Rosser and he has determined that you are indeed a surgical candidate and you have completed your preoperative testing, this information, along with a letter from our office stating the medical reasons why you need the surgery, must be submitted to your insurance company. We then have to wait for the insurance company to reply with an approval before proceeding. The time it takes to receive the approval varies by insurance company.

Upon receiving your approval, we can then work with you to schedule your procedure. In the case of an insurance denial, there are a few options:

  • You can appeal the claim, in an attempt to get an approval at a later time;
  • You can pay for the surgery and hospital stay out of pocket; or
  • You may want to switch insurance companies and apply for an approval again.

Our staff will work with you to ensure that this process runs smoothly and efficiently.
