>RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT

The Research and Development underway at AMTI is testing new medical technologies, such as robotics and ergonomic medical devices and a range of cost-effective health care delivery solutions.

Overview of past Reserach & Development Efforts

Dr. Rosser and Stryker joined forces to mature Dr. Rosser's Infravision esophageal illuminator and balloon bougie concept.  This appliance seeks to help eradicate esophageal injuries caused by failure of identification.  This could be a major breakthrough in recruiting more surgeons to start performing laparoscopic esophageal procedures.

Operation First Look is built around the idea of having a structured testing and evaluation arena for new visualization such as heads up displays.

Operation Iron Hand is an attempt to firmly establish the use of objective ergonomic data to guide the design of instruments in surgery.  After studying the work of Ramon Berger, the head of the SAGES ergonomic committee, Dr. Rosser felt that a database captured from the operating theater wirelessly with nano-sensors could provide the ergonomic scoring System to better guide manufacturers to produce appliances that do not harm.  A large data sample of a cross section of surgeons will be captured.  This represents a paradigm shift in product development.

The Rosser Cyberoffice and Global Command Center connects 21st century physicians to locations around the globe.  In association with Stryker Communications, Dr. Rosser developed the Cyberoffice to facilitate telementoring, videoconferencing, and remote surgical consults from his home or office.
