>CLINICAL DEVELOPMENT & PRACTICE IN MINIMALLY INVASIVE SURGICAL TECHNIQUES

Overview of Dr. Rosser's Accomplishments in MIS

Dr. Rosser's history of pioneering new techniques is key in this area.  In 1991 he performed the first laparoscopic Cholecystectomy on a 19 month old.

Dr. Rosser broke new ground in mini-laparoscopy "without general anesthesia", featuring the use of 2mm laparoscopic instrumentation for conscious pain mapping procedures and other diagnostic and therapeutic surgical procedures.  This procedure was featured on the Discovery Health Channel series "21st Century Medicine" to expose the public to technological advances in medicine.  This is one of the many procedures that are being developed that can be performed with the patient awake.

Dr. Rosser produced the film "Laparoscopic Jejunostomy Tube Placement" which presented a new and more efficient method to perform this procedure. It featured the use of the new provocative ways that enhance tube placement security, efficiency and patient quality assurance. This can have a very larg eimpact on the care of chronically bed-ridden and intensive care unit patients.

At Yale, Dr. Rosser developed and expanded anti-reflux surgery from being non-existent to being one of the institution's specialties.  He has also telementored surgeons around the world in this technique.

To date, Dr. Rosser has successfully performed over 3000 procedures and has made lasting contributions to the efficiency and safety of numerous minimally invasive procedures.
