Dr.
Rosser is a board certified general surgeon who practices
at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York, NY and specializes
in advanced laparoscopic surgical procedures.
Laparoscopic surgery, also referred to as minimally invasive
surgery, is the performance of surgical procedures with
the assistance of a video camera and several thin instruments
through tiny incisions. During the surgical procedure,
small incisions of up to half an inch are made in the
abdomen of the patient, and plastic tubes called ports
are placed through these incisions. The camera and the
instruments are then introduced through the ports which
allow access to the inside of the patient.
The camera transmits an image of the organs
inside the abdomen onto a television monitor. The video
camera becomes a surgeon’s eyes during laparoscopic surgery
since the surgeon is not viewing the inside of the body
through the traditional large incision of open surgery.
Dr. Rosser’s patients receive a comprehensive examination,
consultation, educational review, diagnosis and treatment
of surgical disorders. The practice encompasses all aspects
of general surgery including but not limited to gallbladder,
ulcer, hernia, colon, and endocrine procedures. Special
interest lies in advanced laparoscopy and minimally invasive
surgery - most notably in weight loss surgery (Laparoscopic
Roux-n-Y Gastric Bypass). Other laparoscopic procedures
include but are not limited to: hernia repair, colon resection,
appendix removal, lysis of adhesions (removal of abdominal
scar tissue), and gastro-esophageal reflux procedures.
