Laparoscopic Anastomosis Course



7:00 – 7:30      Registration
7:30 – 8:30      Anastomosis Lecture (Power-Point, DVD Intracorporeal Suturing Samples, Higa’s                        Anastomosis, Video from Animate Lab, Rosser Breakdown of LGRYB Video)
8:30 – 9:30      Warmup Preliminary Drills (Cobra Rope, Bean Drop, Terrible Triangle (3 of each                        Drill))
9:30-11:30       Anastomosis #1 – Two layered Anastomosis (Inanimate Tissue)
                       Back wall Interrupted Sutures
                        - Minimum of eight sutures at 1cm intervals will be placed and divided equally                           amongst team members.
                        - Placement of each individual suture will be timed and errors counted
                          Posterior Wall Running
                        - Using an 8” suture, the posterior wall will then be closed in a running fashion.
                        - Coordination with assistant providing traction will be necessary
                        - Total time of running closure will be recorded and errors counted.
                          Anterior Wall Running
                        - Using an 8” suture, the posterior wall will then be closed in a running fashion.
                        - Coordination with assistant providing traction will be necessary
                        - Total time of running closure will be recorded and errors counted.
                          Anterior Wall Interrupted Sutures
                        - Minimum of eight sutures at 1cm intervals will be placed and divided equally                           amongst team members.
                        - Placement of each individual suture will be timed and errors counted

11:30-12:00      Grading
12:00-1:00        Lunch
1:00-3:00          Anastomosis #2 – Two layered Anastomosis (Animate Tissue)
                        Back wall Interrupted Sutures
