The Advanced Medical Technology Institute (AMTI)
is housed at the Milton and Carroll Petrie Division
of Beth Israel Medical Center in New York, NY.
AMTI is dedicated to the assimilation of technological
advances into medical training and treatment -
"REACHING EXCELLENCE THROUGH TECHNOLOGY."
AMTI is an innovative center for education and
research that is bringing state-of-the-art medical
technology to surgical procedures worldwide, while
maintaining it's commitment to serve patients
and improve health care delivery.
The goal of the AMTI is to define new boundaries
of technology and health care delivery intersection,
academically validate new applications and deploy
state-of-the-art clinical services. The vision
of AMTI is one of global health care delivery.
Dr. James "Butch" Rosser, Jr. is the
Director of AMTI, the Chief of Minimally Invasive
Surgery at Beth Israel Medical Center, and Professor
of Surgery at Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

AMTI is comprised
of 4 key pillars:
Cyber-Based Education
AMTI conducts ongoing training and education programs
utilizing the most state-of-the-art technology
and techniques. AMTI offers cutting-edge skill
training for surgeons to enhance the safest use
of minimally invasive or laparoscopic procedures.
Courses include the infamous Top Gun Laparoscopic
Skills and Suturing Program and the Telemedicine
Empowerment Course.
Telemedicine
Dr. James C. Rosser has extensive experience in
telemedical applications and techniques. He is
currently teamed up with Stryker Communications
teaching Telemedicine Empowerment Courses.
Research and Development
The R&D currently underway at AMTI is focused
on cyber-based education strategies and techniques
that have the potential to decreases medical errors
and deaths through skill acquisition. Innovative
projects include the use of a video game warm-up
to enhance surgical skill acquisition.
